Vani Kapoor best-placed Indian at 18th spot after the first round of Skafto Open

Among the four Indians participating in the Ladies European Tour's Skafto Open, Vani Kapoor emerged as the best-placed Indian after the end of round one.

The 27-year-old Vani carded a modest 2-over 71 in the first round to claim a tied-18th place.

Vani, the 28-time winner on the WPGT, had a rollercoaster kind of first-round, especially from the 5th to 9th hole, in which she hit birdie-double-bogey-birdie-bogey and birdie.

Beatrice Wallin and Magdalena Simmermacher shared the first-round lead after carding 2-under 67 at the Skafto Golf Club.

A pack of six golfers were further shot back at 1-under heading into the second round.

Aditi Ashok, a regular on the LPGA Tour, and rising golfers Amandeep Drall and Astha Madan are among the other Indians competing in the event.

Aditi was the only Indian after Vani who claimed a decent position after round one. She posted 3-over 72 to be placed at the tied-26th position.

Amandeep Drall (80) and Astha Madan (84), on the other hand, are way behind at the leaderboard after having a bad day with 11-over and 15-over, respectively.
