SSP Chawrasia holds one-shot lead at halfway stage of Tour Champion

SSP Chawrasia posted another strong round at the season-ending Tour Championship to maintain his top spot at the halfway stage.

The 43-year-old Chawrasia, who shot 9-under 63 on the first day, carded 3-under to reach 12-under 132 after two days of game at the Golmuri & Beldih Golf Courses, Jamshedpur.

The young and talented Karan Pratap Singh of Faridabad showed some class on the star-studded event and grabbed second position courtesy of his electrifying 7-under 65.

Udayan Mane, the 2019 PGTI Order of Merit champion, tied for third after shooting a remarkable 6-under 66. While Defending champion Gaganjeet Bhullar, who scored his second consecutive 67, joined Mane at third.

Bhullar made the best start of the day with a birdie-birdie-eagle but then dropped four bogeys in exchange for five birdies as he ended up with 67.

India’s International star Shubhankar Sharma, who was at the tied-second spot before the commencement of the second-day game, only managed to hit 1-under 71 to slip down to tied-eight going into weekend action.

15-time PGTI winner Chikkarangappa S (73), currently second in the PGTI Order of Merit, was tied 47th at one-over 145. Joining Chikka in a share of 47th place were Indian golf legend Jyoti Randhawa (74) and Jamshedpur-based professional Karan Taunk (74).

The day’s low round belonged to veteran M Dharma, who carded a solid 8-under to sit tied-16th alongside three others.

PGTI Order of Merit leader Karandeep Kochhar (75) of Chandigarh was tied 55th at two-over 146.
