Tvesa Malik opens with a dreary 75 in the first round of Jabra Ladies Open

India’s Tvesa Malik opened with a below-par four-over 75 to make a disappointing start to her campaign at the Jabra Ladies Open on Thursday.

Tvesa made two birdies, five bogeys, and one double bogey in her opening round at the Evian Resort Golf Club to settle at the tied-47th position after the end of round 1.

The 25-year-old, who had finished a striking T-10 last week in Italy, couldn’t find the rhythm and shot a disastrous first round at the €200,000 prize money event. She will now need a solid second round to make the cut to regain her confidence.

Another Indian playing at the event, Astha Madan, had a nightmare kind of first-round as she carded a heartbreaking 16-over to be placed at 116th position and became the sure-shot contender to miss the cut.

Annabel Dimmock

Defending champion Annabel Dimmock got her defence to a superb start with a round of 4-under 67, and she led by a shot over German Olivia Cowan (68).

The 24-year-old was out on the course early and picked up where she left off in 2019, making five birdies and only dropping one shot to leave her four-under-par after the first day.

A group of five players are tied for third – two shots adrift of the leader – including France’s Lucie Malchirand, who won the 2021 Ladies Italian Open.
