Collin Morikawa sits atop leaderboard after a rainy Thursday at Memorial

Collin Morikawa carded a six-under 66 to claim the lead on Thursday before thunderstorms wiped out play for the day in the opening round of the PGA Tour's Memorial tournament.
The former PGA Champion shot seven birdies and a bogey during his opening-round 66 at Muirfield Village in Ohio, taking him to six under and a shot clear of Adam Long.
There are four players tied for third at 4-under par including, the tough competitor Xander Schauffele.
Justin Thomas, Rickie Fowler, and defending champion Jon Rahm were among seven golfers who shot 3-under 69.
The first round was postponed twice due to severe weather. The first round will be completed Friday prior to the start of the second round.
Jason Day withdraws from Memorial

The 12-time PGA Tour champion Jason Day has withdrawn from the Memorial Tournament with a back injury and will likely miss the U.S. Open for the first time since 2010.
Day, who is currently ranked 69th in the official world golf rankings (OWGR), required a solid finish in this week’s tournament to qualify for the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines; the top 60 in the world at the end of Sunday qualify.
Due to a left forearm injury, another professional, Matt Kuchar, withdrew after 14 holes. He was at 9-over with a scorecard that includes one eagle, one birdie, six bogeys, one double-bogey, and one quadruple-bogey.
