The 2016 World Cup of Golf: SSP Chawrasia and Senappa Chikka to represent India

The Kingston Heath Golf Club in Melbourne, Australia will host the 58th version of the World cup of golf. The event is scheduled from November 24 to November 27.

SSP, who left his mark at the Rio Olympics with his decent game, got a late spot in the World cup event after the withdrawal of Paraguay's Fabrizio Zanotti. Following his selection, SSP picked the 22-year old Senappa Chikka as his partner.

Both world No.234 Chawrasia and world No.439 Chikkarangappa will be making their debut at the World Cup

I'm extremely excited about making my debut at the World Cup of Golf. It's always an honour to represent the country. I expect our team, comprising Chikka and I, to make a major impact at the event," Chawrasia said. "I picked Chikka as my partner as he is one of the most promising young talents in India and is in good form and high on confidence at the moment."

"I am honoured that SSP has picked me as a partner for the World Cup. When Anirban (Lahiri) played at the World Cup last time, I saw it on TV and started dreaming about representing my country in such a prestigious tournament. Now the time has come for me to represent India and I would do my best to make my country proud," Chikka said.

Twenty-eight countries will compete as two-player teams. The format is 72-hole stroke play; the first and third days are four-ball play, and the second and fourth days are alternate shot.

India's best performance at the world cup was back in 2005 when the duo of Arjun Atwal and Jyoti Randhawa made a 9th place finish.
