Hero WPGT, Leg-02: Jahanvi Bakshi holds 2-shot lead entering final round

Jahanvi Bakshi maintained her dominance on the field and carded 2-under 70 in the second round to hold the 2-shot lead at the second leg Hero WPGT.

The promising young golfer from Gurugram, who posted a solid 4-under 68 in the first round, added 70 in round two to reach 6-under 138 after 36 holes game at the East Point Golf Club, Visakhapatnam.

Jahanvi, who started her round from the first tee, witnessed two bogeys with seven pars in the first nine holesthat cost her the top spot. But, on the back-nine, Jahanvi again turned the table to her side with four birdies and five pars to end the day with a two-shot advantage.

The amateur Sneha Singh shot another 2-under 70 to remain at second position with one more round to go.

The veteran 16-time WPGT champion Neha Tripathi took the honours of shooting the best round of the day.

The Kolkata-based Tripathi bounced back with a 4-under 68 after a not so pleasant 1-over 73 she posted on the first round to climb up from overnight tied-8th to the third position. Joining her at third was the 19-year-old Coimbatore’s golfer Rhea Purvi Saravanan; both were at 3-under 141 after 36 holes.

Gaurika Bishnoi also made a big jump in the leaderboard after matching the day’s best score of 68.Last week’s winner, Pranavi Urs had another bad day at the office, as even after shooting a so-so 1-over 73 in the second round, she was at tied-8th.

Seven golfers, Durga Nittur, Rhea Jha, Saaniya Sharma, Agrima Manral, Riya Yadav, Suchitra Ramesh, and Geetika Ahuja, failed to make the cut.
