Gaurika Bishnoi takes first-round lead at sixth leg of Hero WPGT
Gaurika Bishnoi started her campaign with a spectacular 7-under 65 to grab a three-shot opening-round lead at the sixth leg of Hero WPGT.
The two-time WPGT Order of Merit winner Gaurika had a completely flawless first-round in which she smashed five birdies and an eagle to reach 7-under 65 for the day.
Behind her was the promising young golfer Jahanvi Bakshi, who also witnessed a good day at work as she shot 4-under 68 to take solo second heading into round two.
Five golfers, including a 2-time winner in five games this season, Pranavi Urs, were tied-3rd.
Gaurika began the day with a par on the par-4 first hole, but a birdie on the second gave her much-needed confidence, as she went on to record a perfect round over the next sixteen holes to claim a three-shot lead at the Golden Greens Golf Club in Gurugram.
Jahanvi, who is currently second on the 2022 Hero WPGT Order of Merit, smashed six birdies against two bogeys to remain in contention.
The veteran Neha Tripathi posted 2-under 70 in the first round to be at tied-8th alongside Leg-03 winner Hitaashee Bakshi and equally talented Lakhmehar Pardesi.
