Sam Burns beats Davis Riley in playoff to win Valspar Championship

Sam Burns successfully defended his Valspar Championship title after a dramatic playoff win over Davis Riley on Sunday.

Burns, who started the final day three shots behind the leader, posted a decent 2-under 69 in 18 holes game to force a playoff against Riley, who couldn’t manage to maintain his 2-shot advantage and even lost the game in a playoff to finish second.

Riley started the day quite modestly with four straight pars, but a triple bogey on par-5 5th hole dented his confidence though he didn’t make any mistake in the next seven holes and even struck two birdies, a bogey on 13th again rolled him out from under or even-par score.
