Difference between TP5 and TP5x golf balls

Taylormade TP5 and TP5x balls are one of the most recommended balls when it comes to performance, and it has been quite a while since the arrival of these two fantastic balls. Nevertheless, some are still confused as to whether to select the standard TP5 or the TP5x variant to play with, and to cut the confusion, we have come up with this article in which we address the significant differences between the two balls, and which one would you prefer.

Spin is probably the most visible differentiator between the TP5 and TP5x. The standard TP5 is a higher spinning ball. Mostly, this is due to the softer compression and slightly softer cover when it comes to short game shots.

While playing with, I perceived that it would produce more spin, particularly with full and partial wedge shots into the green, the spin rate was even lower than the ProV1 on similar shots. So, if that ball is a little too spiny for you, then the TP5 might be a great choice.

The TP5 showed more satisfaction than the “X” Version. The clicking sound it produced is too low pitched and very muted. As some compression balls feel heavy on the putter it didn’t show that effect. I noticed that the sound of TP5x is somehow crisper than TP5, closer to ProV1. But again, the difference is so tiny.

The softness of the exterior is also a big difference between the TP5 and TP5X. Where TP5 golf ball has a soft cast urethane cover, but, the TP5X has a slightly stiffer cast urethane cover.

The TP5X’s firmer cover enables for more speed, a higher trajectory, and less spin. You’ll notice an added robust trajectory and more distance with the TP5X than you would with the TP5.

Well, for the players who like to play with the ProV1, the standard TP5 is a fabulous option for them, because, with a lower compression than the TP5x, you can get excellent performance out of this ball with a driver swing speed around 100-115.

In comparison to other tour balls, nothing lacks in the features of TP5 & TP5x. Both the balls deliver most of the features they boast about and are designed to keep in mind the demands of all players that everyone can play without flaws. Hence, even average golfers, and also professionals play with the TP5 and TP5x golf balls.
