Amandeep Drall shoots sublime 66 to take first-round lead at Bombay Presidency
Amandeep Drall carded a sublime 4-under 66 in the opening round to grab a one-stroke lead at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club.
2021 Hero WPGT Order of Merit winner Amandeep had seven birdies against a single and one double bogey to end her day one shot ahead of Hitaashee Bakshi and Seher Atwal.
Both Hitaashee and Seher made solid starts to finish their first 18 holes at matching scores of 3-under 67 to share tied-2nd.
Hitaashee made four birdies against a bogey. While Seher, on the other hand, played a flawless round.
Last week’s winner, the Amateur Sneha Singh, made a modest start, and with a decent 2-under 68, she shared tied-4th with Ridhima Dilawari.
Another LETian, Gaurika Bishnoi, was a further shot back at solo-sixth heading into the second round of the star-studded third leg of 2022 Hero WPGT.
India’s International star Tvesa Malik, who primarily competes on the Ladies European Tour, returned to the Indian course after a seven-month gap and witnessed a shaky start.
The second-highest ranked Indian female golfer in the world, Tvesa somehow managed to remain steady until she made a blunder on the 16th hole that resulted in double bogey to end her day at 3-over 73.
Malik was placed tied-13th, and the 2021’s final leg winner Khushi Khanijau alongside Anousha Tripathi, also joined her at 13th.
In the field of 37 players, only two golfers, Ridhima Dilawari and Neha Tripathi claimed the honour of shooting eagles (2-under par); both shot 1-1 eagle.
