Tvesa Malik off to a majestic start in Finland, lies T-2nd at Gant Ladies Open

Tvesa Malik got off to a majestic start with a 3-under 68 and was lying tied second in the first round of the Gant Ladies Open on Thursday.

The star Indian golfer Tvesa made four birdies against a single bogey to claim a spot just behind the leader at the Aura golf, Finland.

Home favourite Ursula Wikström grabbed the first-round lead after carding a solid 5-under 66 at the €200,000 prize money event.

The 41-year-old golfer, who won the same event in 2017, which remains her solitary professional win, holds a two-shot lead over Tvesa Malik and Magdalena Simmermacher.

Argentina’s Magdalena Simmermacher also started her campaign with a fine 3-under to share the backseat behind the leader after the first round of the prestigious LET event.

Diksha Dagar, who clinched her second title last week at the Aramco team series, made a decent start with an over-par 72 to take a tied-18th position.

The other 2 Indian players in the field, Vani Kapoor and Astha Madan had a disastrous round one and will now need a super solid second round to make the cut.

Four players, including Race to Costa del Sol leader Atthaya Thitikul; and Noemi Jimenez Martin, Harang Lee, Christine Wolf, shared the fourth position at 2-under.
