Shubhankar Sharma, SSP Chawrasia will lead the Indian challenge at the European Masters

The duo of Shubhankar Sharma and SSP Chawrasia will lead the Indian challenge in the field of 156 golfers at the Omega European Masters starting on Thursday.

Both the Indian golfers will hope for a better showing in the European Masters event after having a mixed 2020-21 season at the European Tour.

Shubhankar, who tied for ninth place in the English Open two weeks ago, has made twelve cuts in twenty appearances this season. His best performance was at Made in Himmerland in May, where he ended at the tied-8th position.

After having a string of mixed outcomes, the 2018 Asian Tour Order of Merit champion is looking to break his winless skid soon.

He has two European Tour wins under his belt and is looking to add to his trophy cabinet. The last European Tour event he won was at Malaysia in Maybank Championship in 2018.

SSP Chawrasia, on the other hand, only made the cut in three events during his eleven appearances on the European Tour this season.

The 43-year-old golfer's best finish this year was a tie-15 at the Austrian Open in April.

The four-time European Tour champion Chawrasia is also looking to regain some form and do his best at the upcoming event at the Crans-sur-Sierre GC, Crans Montana, Switzerland.

The European Masters, making his return to the European Tour after a two-year absence.

Among the notable names in the field will be Justin Rose, Henrik Stenson, Luke Donald, Richard Bland, and John Catlin, to name a few.
