Rashid Khan signs off at tied-6th spot, Chan Shih-Chang wins Royal's Cup

The star Indian golfer Rashid Khan finished as the best-Indian golfer at the 2022 Royal’s Cup after carding a breathtaking 10-under 62 in the final round on Sunday.

Rashid, a 10-time PGTI champion who was tied-47 going into the final round, stunned everyone by shattering the lowest round of the day and rising 31 spots to finish at tie-6th place.

Taiwanese golfer Chan Shih-Chang claimed the prestigious Royal’s Cup title quite comfortably as he won the event by a good margin of three shots.

The overnight leader Chan Shih-Chang, who entered the final round with a two-shot advantage, carded a solid 4- under 68 to grab the title.

America’s Sihwan Kim, alongside Sadom Kaewkajana of Thailand, finished at tied-2nd with matching tournament total of 20-under 268.

Rashid, who made a modest start with an even-par 72, shot 3-under on day two, followed by 2-under on the third day and with a sizzling 10-under 62 in the final round, Rashid took the honours of ending the event as the best Indian in a tie for sixth place.

Chikkarangappa S, who started the tournament with two consecutive 5-under 67s, had decent outings in the final two days, shooting 2-under 70 in both rounds to finish tied-12th.

Among the other Indians, Rahil Gangjee, who shot a solid 5-under 67 in the first round, lost the momentum in second and posted 1-over 73 followed by decent 70 and 69 to finish at tied-38th.

While the young guns, Aman Raj and Viraj Madappa, completed their journeys at tied-45th alongside five others.
