Diksha Dagar starts with a solid 4-under 68, lies tied-5th at the Aramco Team Series

Diksha Dagar posted a solid 4-under 68 in the opening round to grab tied-8th position at the individual event of the Aramco Team Series.

Dagar, who won the silver medal at the 2017 Deaflympics, had four birdies and one eagle against two bogeys to end her day one campaign inside the top-10.

Olivia Cowan of Germany and England’s Georgia Hall carded rounds of 7-under 65 to share the first-round lead at the Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in King Abdullah Economic City, UAE.

Georgia Hall, who is also the squad's leader in the team competition, had a fantastic opening day, topping the charts in both the individual and team competitions.

Team Hall scored a total of 19-under in the opening round to claim a one-stroke lead.

Diksha Dagar is a part of team Hall. The other two members in the hall’s team are Maha Haddioui of Morocco, and the amateur Yasir Al-Rumayyan, who is also the chairman of Aramco and Golf Saudi.

The other Indian playing in the event, Tvesa Malik posted 1-under 71 in the first round to sit at tied 38th at the individual category. In the team standings, team Tvesa Malik after carding a total score of seven-under was at the tied-32nd spot.

The unique playing event works in both team competition and individual competition. The best two scores of four on each hole are calculated in the team scoring.

On the other hand, each professional will also complete every hole, and the score will be used for the individual competition.

The prize money of both the competitions is different as well. The winner of the team’s event will receive $200,000 prize money. While, the golfer who wins the individual event will get a share from the prize pool of $800,000.
