Aditi Ashok finishes T-44, Nanna Koerstz Madsen wins Honda LPGA Thailand

Aditi Ashok carded a brilliant 5-under 67 in the final round to end her Honda LPGA Thailand’s run at tied-44th position.

The lone Indian at the event, Aditi Ashok, experienced three days of ups and downs (70-72-70) but finished strong with a bogey-free round on the final day, boosting her confidence for upcoming challenges.

Nanna Koerstz Madsen recorded her first victory on the LPGA Tour after defeating Chinese golfer Xiyu Lin in a playoff.

Madsen, who was the overnight leader by a shot, posted a 5-under 67 in the final round, while Xiyu Lin, who was just a shot behind Madsen before the start of the final round, played a 6-under 66 to force a playoff.

Though, till the 17th hole, the game was in Madsen’s control as she was leading by two with only one hole left behind her first LPGA victory, but an error on 18th resulted in a bogey that pushed her back at 26-under.

Xiyu, on the other hand, birdied the 18th hole to match Madsen’s score. Both then birdied the par-5 18th hole before the Danish golfer chipped in an eagle putt on the second playoff hole to seal the victory.

With this win, Madsen not just won her maiden title on the prestigious Tour but also became the firs-ever Danish professional to win an event on the LPGA Tour.

Celine Boutier of France, who started the day at the tied-2nd spot, shot 5-under 67 on Sunday to finish the event at 25-under 263.

The highest-ranked Indian golfer Aditi had made fourteen birdies and one eagle against five bogeys in her four-day journey at the Siam Country Club in Chonburi, Thailand.
