Veer Ahlawat fires 5-under 67 in second round, takes two-shot lead at DGC Open

The Calm and composed Veer Ahlawat showed his class in the second round of the star-studded DGC Open to grab a two-shot lead.
Gurugram-based Veer, who posted a solid 4-under 68 in round one, added 5-under 67 in the second round to reach 9-under 135 at the halfway stage of the inaugural DGC Open being played at the iconic Delhi Golf Club.
Behind him at second place was Indian star Ajeetesh Sandhu, who carded 4-under 68 in round two to climb up from tied-5th to solo second at the midway point.
Thailand’s Nitithorn Thippong was a further shot back at 6-under 138 after 36 holes at the PGTI & Asian Tour co-sanctioned star-studded US$ 500,000 prize money event.

Four golfers were tied for fourth place, including Gaganjeet Bhullar (73-66), who claimed the honour of shooting the best round of the day.
Travis Smyth of Australia, the overnight joint-leader, had a rough second day at work as he only managed to post 1-over 73 to slip down to the tied-7th place.
Four Indians, M Dharma, Kapil Kumar, Manu Gandas and Karandeep Kochhar, joined Smyth at seventh place, heading into weekend action.
While the Indian Shankar Das, who also enjoyed round one lead, didn’t manage to hold the momentum and posted 2-over 74 to be placed tied-12th.
