The much-anticipated joint event of the PGA of America and the Ryder Cup Europe is only two days away.
Ryder Cup, which is contested every two years between America and Europe in a team format, is all set to resume from September 24th at the Whistling straits.
The event will include notable international players such as Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, Rory McIlroy, and Shane Lowry.
In 2018, the last time when these two teams locked horns, Thomas Bjorn’s Team Europe emerged as the winner after thrashing Jim Furyk’s Team USA by 17.5-10.5 margin at the Albatross course in France.
Team USA: Steve Stricker is the captain of the U.S. team in his home state, and the likes of Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, and Bryson DeChambeau will make sure to produce a nail-biting game at the Whistling straits. This is the first time since 1993 that team USA will compete without legendary golfer Tiger Woods, who met with tragic car accident earlier this year.
Team Europe: Padraig Harrington will lead Team Europe, which includes prominent golfers such as World No.1 Jon Rahm and modern-day star Rory McIlroy, as well as the other ten players who are all fired up to defend their title.
Format: Match Play
The prestigious event will be played in three different formats: foursomes, four-ball, and singles.
Both teams will play foursome (alternate shot) matches in the mornings of the first two days, and four-ball matches in the afternoons. On Sunday, all players of both teams will compete in singles matches.Posted on: 2021 Sep 22 Wed
