The 25-year-old Scheffler, who was runner-up in the last year’s event, edged past Kisner to complete a 4&3 victory at the Austin Country Club.

Scheffler reached the finals of the WGC event after beating the former World No.1 Dustin Johnson earlier on Sunday.

Kisner advanced to the finals after defeating Corey Conners of Canada.

Though Kisner won’t manage to make a single birdie in the final round, while Scheffler, on the other hand, smashed three birdies and was finally announced as the winner when both parred the 15th and Scottie was 4-up.

Scottie, who was winless in his first seventy starts at the PGA Tour, entered 2022 with good luck in his pocket, as in his last five starts, the win at Austin was his third.

He won the Phoenix Open six weeks ago, followed by a win at Arnold Palmer Invitational moved him to No.5 in the world. And he was finally able to dethroned Rahm from the top, who was the No.1 since July 2018, after an impressive show at the WGC Dell Technologies match play.

This victory will make Scottie one of the hot favourites at the upcoming Masters' tournament.
