Jason Kokrak and Kevin Na stunned the audience after carding an electrifying 12-under 60 in the final round to win the QBE Shootout by a single stroke.
The duo Kokrak and Na were five shots behind after the fifth hole, but then they smashed nine consecutive birdies from sixth to fourteenth followed by another three birdies on the 16th to 18th to claim the title.
However, the competition was stiff on the final day especially in the final hour, where four teams had a chance to win over the last two holes. But with the brilliance of Kokrak, he and Na built a two-shot lead meaning the other teams behind them had to hole out from the fairway to force a playoff.
Marc Leishman and Jason Day, who started the tournament with a blistering 56 and led all week, won’t able to carry that rhythm and shot 65 to tie for third with defending champions Harris English and Matt Kuchar, who closed with a 62.
Lexi Thompson, the only LPGA Tour player in the field, playing the event alongside Bubba Watson carded 68 on the final day to finish their campaign at the ninth spot in the 12-team field.Posted on: 2021 Dec 13 Mon
