The American Xander Schauffele produced a solid 4-under 67 in the final round to take home the gold medal after defeating silver medalist Rory Sabbatini by one stroke at the Tokyo Olympics.

World No.5 ended his run at an impressive score of 18-under 266 to claim the gold medal and fulfil his father’s dream of winning gold in the Olympics.

His father, Stefan Schauffele, dreamed of winning gold in track and field before a horrific car crash ended his hopes at age 20.

But after nearly 40 years, his son Xander gave him the most satisfying moment of his life by winning gold in Olympics.

Rory Sabbatini of Slovakia played a sensational round of 10-under 61 to grab the silver medal at the magnum opus of all sporting events.

But, the nail-biting moment came when the seven players set to compete in a playoff to secure the bronze medal.

The pack of seven golfers consists of some of the top players, such as Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa, and Hideki Matsuyama, to name a few.

But in the end, C.T Pan of Taiwan stunned everyone and emerged as a winner of the playoff after defeating the mighty men’s of professional golf to claim the bronze medal.

Tokyo Olympics: Tough road ahead for Indian golfers

The Indians playing in the event came home with empty hands after having a dreary event in Tokyo.

Top-ranked Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri, who started his campaign with an impressive 4-under to tie for tied-8th after round one, somehow lost his momentum and witnessed a rollercoaster remaining three rounds to finish the prestigious event at the tied-42nd position.

Udayan Mane, the second Indian, began his journey with the last position, carded two and one-under in the next two rounds, and with 1-over in the final round, he finished at 56th position out of 60 players.

Some of the biggest names also failed in Tokyo include Justin Thomas and Patrick Reed of the USA and Shane Lowry of Ireland. However, the trio produced a decent score of 10-under 274 in four days, but that was not enough to give them a medal.
