Viktor Hovland wins World Wide Technology Championship by 4 shots

Viktor Hovland carded a solid 4-under 67 in the final round to comfortably defend his World Wide Technology Championship on Sunday.

Hovland, who won the same event last year by a single shot, claimed this year’s title by a good margin of four strokes.

The 23-year old Norwegian golfer had a solid campaign throughout in which he shot 4-under 67 in the first round, followed by a blistering 6-under 65 in the second and an even better 9-under 62 in the third round and then with a decent 4-under 67, he locked his third PGA Tour victory.

The young golfer smashed 28 birdies, three bogeys and one double bogey to end his magnificent four days campaign at a total of 23-under 261.

Carlos Ortiz, who produced a smashing 5-under 66 in the last round, ended his World Wide Technology Championship journey at 19-under 265 and four shots off the winner Viktor Hovland.

The only Indian playing at the event, Anirban Lahiri, who was at the tied-5th position after the halfway point, lost his momentum in the final two rounds and finished at tied-40th spot.

World number 7 Justin Thomas missed the chance of winning the event as he only managed to score 2-under 69 in the final round to finish at the solo-third place at the PGA Tour $7,200,000 prize money.

Scottie Scheffler of America, who shot 5-under 66 in the final round, finished at the solo-fourth. Whereas, Joaquin Niemann and Matthew Wolff ended their run at tied-5th place.
