Tour Championship 2019 : Xander tops the leaderboard

The final event of the FedEx Cup 2019 starts yesterday with 30 players on the field at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.

Here, the Top 30 players will compete to take home a handful of prize money, with the winner’s share of $15 million.
Yesterday, after the first round of the Tour Championship, Xander Schfauffele, Brooks Koepka, and Justin Thomas took the lead at 10 under par overall.

The 2017 Tour Championship winner Xander Schauffele shot a 64 (the lowest of the day). Xander started his campaign at the 8th position and his bogey-free 6 under 64, vaulting him into a three-way tie for the lead in the championship. He shared the top spot with Brooks Koepka and Justin Thomas.
On the other hand, Brooks Koepka makes a superb start of the final event with 3 under 67 and reaches 7 under overall, with the help of the new Tour Championship format.

The last week BMW Championship winner Justin Thomas had a 2-stroke advantage before the start of the Tour Championship, but he could not maintain his lead on Thursday. He was at par even and remains 10 under, thanks to the new Tour Championship format.

The 2016 FedEx Cup champion Rory McIlroy settles alone at the No.4 position. He birdied 3 of his final 6 holes and posts 4 under 66.
Only 10 of the 30 players manages to over par at East Lake, and this round sums up the whole story of the intense battle coming in our way on this weekend.
Friday’s second round starts at 9:15 p.m. IST.
