“If you look down the list, there are still some top players there – it’s not some college golf event,” DeLaet said. “It would have been better for the game if all the top players went, but that’s their decision. I’m going, I’m proud and I’m going to go try to win a medal.”

“It’s always been a dream of mine since I was a little girl to be an Olympian, but I didn’t know what sport,” said Henderson, “I’ve had a great season on the LPGA Tour, and I’m hoping to cap it off with a gold medal in Rio.”
The Canadian Olympic Committee and the International Golf Federation have kept us up to date, and I feel the risks are very minimal, and I’m not too concerned about it,” said Hearn, of Brantford, Ont., who’s ranked 130th. “I want to appreciate the other sports and I’ll soak in the culture. I plan to do the opening ceremonies and have a few days to take in some other events.”
The Olympic tournaments in Rio will include 60 women and 60 men competing over 72 holes of stroke play. The men’s event will be conducted from Aug. 11-14, while the women’s from Aug. 17-20.
