TaylorMade SIM Max Driver Review

The 2020 offering from TaylorMade had us almost hyperventilating – mostly because it feels like I have been waiting forever to test the latest driver.
SIM
drivers come in 3 different models; Sim, Sim Max, and Sim Max D. I tried the
Standard model, which is SIM Max; the driver is 460cc but has the most compact
address profile and the smallest face which is quite suitable to my game style.
Moving ahead, this year TaylorMade has come out with its latest innovation, called the Inertia Generator, which is a new revolutionary asymmetric sole shape to reduce drag at the most crucial part of the swing and enhance aerodynamics for added clubhead speed. ← A one more thumbs up detail.
Look & Feel

The SIM Max somehow sounded like last year’s successful driver M6, but the feel was slight better, which is a big plus point too, as the M5/M6 was fantastic in both feel & sound.
After the first swing, I genuinely felt that this driver sounds different and a bit damp. As we all know, sound translates to feel, and it feels pretty firm indeed. The pitch is low to mid-range, which according to me is one more plus point.
Performance

As said
earlier, TaylorMade never lets you down when it comes to driver performance.
The
latest offering from TaylorMade is the lowest spinning driver I have ever hit.
I hit some good shots with proper control, and my numbers ranged from 1900 rpm
to max of 2500 rpm, which for a driver is very low, and which for a golf
enthusiast is quite good.
Talking
about its forgiveness on the course, I can say that it was very consistent with
less dispersion which I’d always expect from a TaylorMade driver.
Another thing which I noticed was an increase in clubhead speed, and I think it’s because of the new aerodynamic shape. SkyTrak data showed that I had an average 98 mph, which is almost 1.5mph increase in what I normally swing at.
Our Final Verdict

The new
TaylorMade SIM driver is the kind of club we all want in our golf bag, barring
the price tag; the driver carries an appealing and distinctive white, black
& grey color scheme, with a promise of great performance.
While even the most avid equipment geeks don't advocate purchasing every model that comes out, but it's safe to say that this comes out like a beast and a must have for golfers that are looking to buy a new driver that is forgiving as well as gives distance. Go grab yours today!
