SI Kim Woo wins the American Express 2021

South Korean golfer Si Woo fired a bogey-free 8-under 64 in the final round to grab the American Express title by one stroke on Sunday.

The 25-year-old rolled in back-to-back birdies on the 16th and 17th hole to edges past Patrick Cantlay and win the $6.7 million event.

It was Kim’s third career victory and first since the 2017 Players Championship.

Kim began the day in a three-way tie with Max Homa and Tony Finau, but it ended up being Cantlay, who is a strong contender to beat.

“I had many chances to win, but I couldn’t make it, but finally I made it,” said Kim Woo.

On the other hand, Cantlay shattered the course record at PGA West’s Stadium Course by two strokes with an 11-under 61. He played a memorable round with a 38-foot birdie putt at the last, but it wasn't enough to make him the winner. He finished his campaign at second position with an overall score of 22-under 266.

“I gave away so many shots the first couple of days,” Cantlay said. “Today, I felt like I could make everything, and I made a lot of them.”

Australian Cameron Davis also fired a bogey-free 8-under 64 and managed to grab his best career finish, a solo third.

The only Indian playing in the tournament, Anirban Lahiri, shot 68 & 73 and missed the cut by one shot.

"I need to gather myself and get ready for next week. I still believe my game is in a good place, but I need to cut down some unforced errors and get consistent," Lahiri, whose last global win came in India at the Hero Indian Open 2015, said.
