Shubhankar Sharma makes cut at Dubai Desert Classic

Shubhankar Sharma carded an even-par 72 in the second round of the Dubai Desert Classic to book his ticket for the weekend action.

Matching with first-round 72, Sharma post-even-par 144 in two days to make the cut at the DP World’s €2,951,125 prize money event.

Sharma was in trouble and in danger of missing the cut thru first-nine holes courtesy of two bogeys and a single birdie. On the back-nine, the young Sharma kept his cool and struck eight consecutive pars, and with a birdie on the final hole, he finished his round at an even-par.

Justin Harding produced a solid 4-under 68 to grab the lead by two at the halfway stage of the prestigious event.

Tyrell Hatton, who shot 3-under 69 in the first round, posted a 6-under 66 on Friday to take the second spot.

Paraguayan golfer Fabrizio Zanotti alongside South African Erik Van Rooyen, shared tied-3rd at 8-under 136.

Four-time major champion Rory McIlroy climbed to tied-5th after carding a blistering 6-under 66 in the second round. Four other golfers joined McIlroy at fifth with two days matching scores of 7-under 137.

The notables who missed the cut were Nicolai Hojgaard, Robert McIntyre, Danny Willett, James Morrison, Ian Poulter, and Jonathan Caldwell, to name a few.
