Shubhankar opens with solid 67 at Canary Championship, Chawrasia lies Tied-38th

The star Indian golfer Shubhankar Sharma impressed the critics after posting a superb 4-under 67 in the first round of the Canary Islands Championship on Tuesday.
Sharma, who missed the cut in his last two events, commenced his day with a double bogey on the 10th hole, but he smashed five birdies in his next seven holes to grab a decent position at the leaderboard.
The veteran SSP Chawrasia posted 3-under 68 to claim tied-38th position after the end of day 1 of the European Tour’s €1,500,000 event.
Chawrasia had five birdies against two bogeys to reach inside top-40 at the Golf Costa Adeje, Tenerife, Spain.

The Italian golfer Francesco Laporta carded a splendid 9-under 62 for the lowest round of his European Tour career and a one-shot lead after the opening round of the Canary Islands Championship.
Laporto had eight birdies, an eagle, and only one bogey in his unforgettable round at Golf Costa Adeje course.
Off the other three Indians, Shiv Kapur and Gaganjeet Bhullar, were 2-under to find the T-54th spot, while Ajeetesh Sandhu was even par after the first round.
The 24-year-old Sharma has missed five cuts in nine starts in 2021. His best has been T-22 at Dubai Desert Classic.
