Patrick Reed: The Northern Trust Champion

Patrick Reed is back in the champions circle, he
ends his 16 months winless streak by winning the Northern Trust - the first event
of the three-event FedEx Cup playoffs.

Reed’s victory catapulted him into the projected FedEx
Cup standings from 50th to second.

Patrick won the Northern Trust second time in 4 years, (Barclays in 2016) by shooting a 2-under 69 to finish at 16-under par.

Reed and Ancer fought it out for the top spot until
Reed took the perfect lead, moving to 14 under at the Northern Trust. The 2018
Master Champion leads by one shot ahead of Abraham Ancer, who shot a 3-under 68
to reach 13-under.

He was two shots behind on the back nine and then
rolled in three straight putts that allowed him to hold Ancer off to win the
Northern Trust.

This was Reed’s first major win since the Masters in 2018, The Man, who was struggling three months ago and decided to put down his golf clubs for a bit and took a few weeks off to reset his sport. But now he becomes the champion of the Northern Trust. It was a seventh PGA Tour title for Reed and his second playoff win for the FedEx Cup.

Now, after winning the Northern Trust his place at
the Tour Championship is secure.

However, he has to make more efforts to get in the
top eight for the president’s cup. He is at 12th in the standings, and needs to
be in top 8 to automatically qualify, which will be decided after the results
of BMW Championship.
