Manu Gandas, Amardeep Malik share first round lead at Delhi-NCR Open

Manu Gandas and Amardeep Malik each carded 7-under 65s to share the lead after the first round of the Delhi-NCR Open on Tuesday.

Md Zamal Hossain Moolah, who finished second in last week’s event, fired a six-under 66 to occupy tied-3rd place at the Rs.40 Lakh prize money event.

Joining him at tied were Chandigarh-based Abhijit Singh and Shivendra Singh Sisodia of Gurugram with a matching score of six-under 66.

The Asian Tour winner Chiragh Kumar alongside the young Sunit Chowrasia, were at tied-fourth after both carded 4-under 68s at the Noida Golf course.

Manu Gandas, one of the most consistent performers on the domestic circuit, had a good day at work, as he smashed six birdies and one eagle against a single bogey to be the joint leader heading into round two.

Amardeep Malik was off to a flying start at his home course as he scored four birdies in his first six holes hitting his irons well and rolling in the putts.

Malik then added another birdie and bogey on the back nine before sinking an eagle on the first hole from four feet. He played his final seven holes steadily and finished day one with a solid score of seven-under 65.

Pre-tournament favourite Yuvraj Singh Sandhu had a quiet start as he only managed to card 1-over 73 to occupy the tied-48th place.
