Khalin Joshi signs off at tied-8th spot, Joohyung Kim wins The Singapore International
Khalin Joshi posted 4-over 76 in the final round at the challenging conditions at Tanah Merah Country Club to finish his Singapore International campaign as the best-placed Indian at tied-8th position.
Joshi, who had set the pace after the first round with a blistering 67, couldn't replicate that form in the rest of the event, finishing at 4-over 292, though his effort was commendable as only three golfers were able to post under-par scores after 72 holes.
Joohyung Kim won the prestigious The Singapore International after defeating Thailand's Rattanon Wannasrichan (72) in the first extra playoff hole.
The 19-year-old Kim, who was the leader by two shots after the 16th hole, made a bogey on the 17th that narrowed the gap between him and Rattanon, and on the last hole, Rattanon smashed a brilliant birdie, while Kim only managed to hit par.
As a result, both Kim and Rattanon finished the tournament tied on four under to force the tournament into a sudden-death play-off.
In such a stressful situation, the young Kim kept his cool and made a 14-foot birdie putt on the first extra hole, while Rattanon missed his birdie attempt from eight feet.
Viraj Madappa finished as the second-best Indian with a round of 70 and an overall score of 6-over 294.
Among the other Indians playing in the event, Rashid Khan (74) completed his run at T-24th alongside Abhijit Chadha (69) at 7-over 295. Chikkarangappa, who was in third place before the start of the final round, finished tied for 39th place with an 82 on the final day. While, Shubhankar (73) and Shiv Kapur (72) were T-46th at 10-over 298.
Ajeetesh Sandhu had to withdraw after testing positive for COVID-19 before play.
