Jon Rahm, Patrick Cantlay co-lead at the rain-interrupted Memorial Tournament

Defending champion Jon Rahm and Patrick Cantlay grabbed the top spot on Friday after carding 5-under 67 in the second round of the Memorial Tournament.

Due to darkness in Dublin, Ohio, the second round was called off with 44 players on the course. Players will be back in position at 8 a.m. EDT Saturday to complete their rounds.

Rahm started his second round on the front nine and made consecutive four birdies from 4th to 7th holes. He began with a bogey on the back-nine made birdie-par-birdie and was five-under through 13 holes when the horn blew.

Patrick Cantlay made six birdies against one bogey to climb up the leaderboard. Cantlay started on the back nine and went par-birdie-bogey through his first three and hit a couple of birdies in his next five holes. He finished the front-nine with three back-to-back birdies to share the top position with pre-tournament favorite Jon Rahm.

Scottie Scheffler carded 1-under 71 to sit in third place. Four players tied for fourth were on the course when play was halted.

The first-round leader Collin Morikawa slipped after hitting 2-over through 12 holes in his second round.

McIlroy shot back-to-back rounds of 72 as the Northern Irishman played 34 holes on Friday. The world number eight lies eight shots behind clubhouse leader Patrick Cantlay, who won this event in 2019.
