FedEx Cup 2019: Rory Mcllroy wins the Tour Championship
The three weeks long FedEx Cup 2019 has come to an end with a super deserving winner “Rory Mcllroy” as he grabs the Tour Championship trophy and the FedEx Cup.
Mcllroy’s sparkling performance of 4 under 66 on Sunday made him the champion of FedEx Cup 2019 at the East Lake Golf Course, Atlanta, USA. He also receives $15 million, the biggest payout in golf till date.
Mcllroy, won the FedEx Cup second time in the last four years, and with this superb win, he now joins “Tiger Woods” as the only players to win the FedEx Cup twice.
Rory was at fifth position in the FedEx Cup standings at the start of the week. But, he finished at a total of 18 under in the FedEx Cup finale and won the Tour Championship - the final event of the FedEx Cup playoffs 2019.
His actual score was 13-under 267, which is one stroke better than his victorious total back in 2016.
Before the start of the final round, World’s No.1 Brooks Koepka was leading with one stroke ahead of Mcllroy. But, the things changed on the seventh hole, when Mcllroy made 20-foot birdie. While, Koepka made a double bogey following a lost ball in the trees.
Rory started the week by questioning about the new format and the extraordinary prize money, but finished it with a third win of the season, the Players Championship (March -19) and the Canadian Open (June -19) were the previous two.
