Disappointing start for Rahil Gangjee at Japan Players Championship

The only Indian playing at the Japan Tour, Rahil Gangjee, was off to a disappointing start at the inaugural Japan Players Championship as he carded an 11-over in the first round.
Gangjee ran into trouble with a quadruple bogey on sixth and a triple bogey on 16th. He also had two double and one bogey in his disastrous first-round at the Nishii Nasuno Country Club.
The 42-year-old Gangjee only managed to hit a single birdie to find the last spot at the leaderboard.
Leading the field after the first round was the Korean golfers Hyun Woo Ryu, Tadahiro Takayama, and Taihei Sato, the trio carded 7-under 64.
Tadahiro Takayama, one of the three leaders, smashed seven birdies in his bogey-free round of 64 at the ¥50,000,000 prize money event.
Gangjee, who won the Panasonic Open Championship on the Japan Golf Tour three years back in April 2018, finished T-29th at the Japan Tour’s last week event.
