Collin Morikawa wins Mexico Championship by 3 strokes

Collin Morikawa smashed a 3-under 69 for a three-shot victory in the Workday Championship on Sunday.

The 24-year-old Morikawa now becomes the second person ever who won a Major and a World Golf Championship under the age of 25 — the first being Woods.

Morikawa won by three over Brooks Koepka (70), Viktor Hovland (67) and Billy Horschel (70).

"With how good the field was, how good my game felt, to close it out with such a stacked leaderboard coming after me, it really means a lot,'' Morikawa said.

Morikawa, who finished at 18-under 270, won for the fourth time in his past 34 starts on the PGA Tour.

"Tiger means everything to me," Morikawa said. "Yes, he had the crash, and thankfully he's alright, and hopefully, he has a quick and great recovery, but I don't think we say thank you enough. So, I want to say thank you to Tiger."

Many players wore red shirts and black pants on Sunday as a show of support as Woods recovers from career-threatening leg injuries from his car crash in Los Angeles last Tuesday.

Red and black, we know that’s what Tiger does on Sundays, so just to join in and just let Tiger know were supporting him in the best way we can,” Tony Finau said. Were still playing and we miss him out here, but it was cool just to be a part of that.

Among the other prominent names, Scottie Scheffler, who made double bogeys on the final day, shot 68 to finish fifth. Rory McIlroy finished his campaign with a 71 to tie for sixth, and Patrick Reed shot a 72 and to finish, another spot back.
