Cameron Davis claims first PGA Tour title at Rocket Mortgage Classic

Australian golfer Cameron Davis took home the Rocket Mortgage trophy after winning his first PGA Tour event in a nail-biting three-way playoff on Sunday.
Davis shot a 5-under 67 in the final round, including an eagle on the 17th hole, to force a playoff.
The 26-year-old Davis was in a tie for the lead at 18-under with Joaquin Niemann and Troy Merritt after making three consecutive birdies on the 12th, 13th, and 14th holes, pars on the 15th and 16th, an eagle on the 17th, and a birdie on the 18th.
Niemann dropped out of the playoff after hitting a bogey on the first playoff hole, but the battle between Davis and Merritt stretched until Davis made a 6-foot par putt to get the job done on the fifth playoff hole.
“I just tried to put as much out of my mind as I could and hit every shot for what it’s worth. It sounds simple, but it’s so hard to do when the pressure is on like that. I didn’t make any putts, but I kept on putting it in play and it worked out all right.” said Davis.
After claiming the Rocket Mortgage trophy, Davis joins fellow Countrymen’s Matt Jones, Cameron Smith, and Marc Leishman as Australian winners on PGA Tour this season.

A great week for Australians comes to an end with three winners on three different professional golf tours.
Cameron Davis claimed the title on PGA Tour, Lucas Herbert secured a victory on European Tour, and Stephanie Kyriacou won on the Ladies European Tour to make Australia proud.
Lucas Herbert smashed a blistering 4-under 68 in the final round of the Irish Open to claim his second victory on the European Tour.
Stephanie Kyriacou won the big green egg open after carding a superb 5-under on the last day to secure a one-stroke victory over Sanna Nuutinen.
