Brooks Koepka wins 2021 Phoenix Open in style

Former No.1 Brooks Koepka carded a final-round 65 to secure victory at the Phoenix Open on Sunday.

Five strokes behind Jordan Spieth and Xander Schauffele entering the final round, Koepka shot a 6-under 65 to grab a one-stroke victory at the TPC Scottsdale.

Coming off a career-worst three straight missed cuts, Koepka shoots a 24-foot eagle putt on the par-5 third and a string of three birdies in a row beginning at No. 13 to wins the $ $7.3 million event in style.

Koepka made two eagles, three birdies, and one bogey in his six-under-par round to claim his second phoenix open title earlier he won in 2015 at TPC Scottsdale for the first of his eight PGA Tour titles.

“It’s what I live for,” Koepka said. “I live for those moments where you got to close; you got to hit some quality shots, quality putts. I don’t know, I just like showing off, I guess.”

The third round joint leader, Xander Schauffele only managed to shoot even par on the final day to tie for second with Kyoung-Hoon Lee (68) at 18-under 266.

It was a good day to learn from some mistakes, Schauffele said. Felt like I stayed pretty patient all day.

On the other side of the table, Jordan Spieth, who shared the 54-hole lead after a sizzling 10-under 61, played 1-over par final day to finish his campaign at Tied-4th position with Carlos Ortiz of Mexico and Steve Striker of America at 17-under 267.
