Brendon Todd tests positive for COVID-19, withdraws from Wells Fargo Championship

Brendon Todd has withdrawn from the Wells Fargo Championship after receiving a positive test for COVID-19, the PGA Tour said on Tuesday.

Todd, the latest player to withdraw due to Covid, became the fifth player in two weeks to test positive for COVID-19 and withdraw from a PGA Tour event.

Tyrrell Hatton, Sepp Straka, Will Gordon, and Brice Garnett all pulled out of the Valspar Championship last week after testing positive for the deadly Coronavirus.

The 35-year-old Todd has made 11 of his last 12 cuts but has not recorded a top-10 thus far in 2021. Last month, Todd finished tied for 46th at The Masters and tied for 39th at the RBC Heritage.

Todd will have the PGA TOUR’s full support throughout his self-isolation period under CDC guidelines. He will be replaced in the field by J.J. Spaun.

Among those competing this week at Quail Hollow Club are world number one Dustin Johnson and world number two Justin Thomas.
