One of India's brightest young golfers, Avani Prashanth, has been invited to compete in the Augusta National Women's Amateur this year.

Avani shared the news on her Instagram and wrote, “Honoured to have received an invite for the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. Can’t wait to compete with the best amateurs in the world.”

With this invitation, Avani, a 15-year-old Bengalurean, will become India's first golfer to compete in the tournament that features 75 of the best amateurs from all over the world.

The Augusta National Women's Amateur is regarded as one of the most renowned amateur competitions, and it will be fascinating to see how Avani perform on such a large platform.

She has, however, demonstrated her mettle in the past with solid gameplay. She emerged as a winner on the Indian circuit two times last year, followed by victories at the strokeplay and matchplay events in the All India Amateur Championships and the All India Junior Championship last year. She also finished 16th in the Women's Amateur Asia Pacific Golf Championship.
