Anirban Lahiri starts with a modest 70, lies tied-31st at Palmetto Championship

Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri got off to a steady start at the Palmetto tournament as he brought home a card of two-under 70 to lie Tied-31st at the Congaree Golf Club on Thursday.

Lahiri had three birdies against one bogey in his modest first round at the $7,300,000 prize money event.

After a promising start to the new 2020-21 PGA Tour season late last year when he made all four cuts and had a Top-10 finish in the Dominican Republic, Lahiri has been somewhat patchy in his 11 starts in 2021, where he has made only three cuts, which include the fifth place in Texas Open.

Another Indian playing in the event, Arjun Atwal carded a decent 1-over 73 to be placed at a tied-75th position in the star-studded Palmetto Championship.

He was 1-under till the 16th hole but made back-to-back bogeys on 17th and 18th to sit outside even and under par berths.
