Anirban Lahiri 'not satisfied' with his performance at Tokyo Olympics

Anirban Lahiri opened up about his journey in Tokyo Olympics and labelled it as a disappointing campaign.

The 34-year-old Lahiri, who was playing in his second Olympics, finished his 2020 Olympics campaign at the 42nd position.

"It was fantastic. Obviously, being the second Olympics for me, I thought it was way better than my experience in Rio for many different reasons. I started better, but obviously disappointed with the way I played," said Lahiri in a virtual press conference on Tuesday.

"To some extent, I feel like I kind of ran low on energy, and something that I have to manage better if I ever get another opportunity, but everything was brilliant. No regrets at all, and I'm so glad that I got to be a part of it.

"It's something that will always be close to my heart. Any time I get to wear the tricolour, it's what I live for," he added.

Lahiri recently retained his card for the upcoming 2021-22 PGA season after finishing 121 in the list of 125 players heading for next season.

Lahiri, who plays most of his game at the PGA Tour, which is one of the world's most prestigious professional golf tours, has made ten cuts in 21 appearances. He has three top-10 finishes, with a tied-3rd finish at Barbasol marked as his best performance in the 2020-21 season.

Although, he is still seeking his maiden win on the PGA Tour as his last worldwide title was at home in the Hero Indian Open in 2015.

He will be next seen in action at the Northern Trust, the first tournament of the playoff system for the FedEx Cup, which will take place at Liberty National Golf Club in New Jersey from August 19 to 22.
