Aditi Ashok starts with a decent 70, lies T-42 at Honda LPGA Thailand

The highest-ranked female Indian golfer Aditi Ashok made a modest start at the 2022 Honda LPGA Thailand on Thursday.

Three-time LET winner Aditi Ashok shot a decent 2-under 70 in the opening round to occupy a tied-42nd place at the star-studded event being played at Siam Country Club in Samut Prakan, Thailand.

Australia’s Su oh, Nasa Hataoka of Japan and Esther Henseleit of Germany shared the top spot after the trio carded matching 9-under 63s.

Everyone in the top group had impressive and error-free rounds as the trio reached 9-under on day one with the help of nine birdies.

Chinese golfer Xiyu Lin was a further shot back at 8-under 64.

Aditi, who recently got a sponsorship from one of the leading four-wheeler manufacturers Hyundai, was all charged up to play this event and do wonders to claim her first LPGA title.

The lone Indian in the field had witnessed three birdies against a single bogey to end day one inside top-45 heading into the second round.

Five golfers, including the ten-time LPGA champion Brooke M. Henderson, were at tied-5th place at 7-under 65.

The top-ranked golfer in the field, World No.4 Daniel Kang, was at tied-11th.
