Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship: Shubhankar Sharma at tied-14th spot after second round

Shubhankar Sharma, India’s lone golfer at the Abu Dhabi Championship, carded a 1-under 71 to lie tied-14th after the second day.

The 25-year-old Sharma, playing in the challenging conditions at the Yas Links, Abu Dhabi, added 71 to his opening round 70 to move inside top-15 at the halfway stage of the DP World’s first event of 2022.

Sharma, a two-time winner on the European Tour, was just four shots behind the leaders James Morrison and Scott Jamieson.

Despite shooting a dreadful 74 in the second round, Scottish golfer Scott Jamieson remained in top place thanks to his first-round 8-under 63.

While the Englishman James Morrison was just behind him at the top, having had a fantastic first round (66) and a 1-under 71 on Friday to take the lead.

Three golfers, including the 2021 Hero World Challenge winner Viktor Hovland were at tied-3rd with a total of 4-under 138.

The notables who missed the cut were Richard Bland, Nicolai Hojgaard, Garrick Higgo, Grant Forrest, and Jazz Janewattananond,
