Abhijit Singh Chadha fires 7-under 63 to grab lead at darkness-halted Pune Open Championship

Abhijit Singh Chadha was leading the Pune Open Championship on Wednesday when the first round was suspended because of darkness at the Poona Golf Course.
Chadha fired a spectacular 7-under 63 and already completed his 18 holes journey before the suspension at the Rs. 40 lakh prize money event.
The Chandigarh golfer had a three-shot lead when play was stopped due to darkness after a rainy day throughout. Thirty players are yet to finish round one out of a total field of 126.
The 30 players yet to complete round one will resume play at 7 am on Thursday. Round two will get underway immediately after the completion of round one on Thursday.

Rookie Kartik Sharma and the veteran Wasim Khan were tied second in the clubhouse with scores of four-under 66.
The 24th ranked player at the PGTI Order of Merit, Abhijit Singh Chadha, started his day a bogey but that was his first and last error of the day as he smashed six birdies and an eagle on the remaining seventeen holes to grab the clubhouse lead in the rainy conditions.
Among the players who finished, Chandigarh’s Harendra Gupta had the next best score of 67. He was fourth in the clubhouse.Rajiv Niranjan Datar had the best opening day among the Pune-based players as he shot a 70 to be tied 16th in the clubhouse.
Pre-tournament favourite Kshitij Naveed Kaul carded a disappointing 5-over 75 to sit outside the projected cut limit. The top 50 players and ties will make the cut for the final two rounds.
