Yuvraj Singh Sandhu, Md Zamal share third-round lead at Players Championship

Yuvraj Singh Sandhu fired a breathtaking 7-under 65 in the third round of the Players Championship to reach the top spot on Thursday.

Playing on his home course, the young Sandhu smashed seven birdies and eleven pars to move up five spots into the joint lead with Zamal Hossain heading into the final round.

Md. Zamal Hossain Moolah had a steady round at the Chandigarh Golf Club, as he added 3-under 69 in third round to his two days total of eleven-under 133 to share the lead with Yuvraj Singh Sandhu.

Kartik Sharma also showed off his enticing approach with a five-under 67 to tie for third place with overnight leader Shivendra Singh Sisodia.

While after carding a steady two-under 70, Angad Cheema was at the solo-fifth spot.

Sandhu, a two-time PGTI winner, began his third round with three consecutive pars and a birdie on the fourth hole. He then made four consecutive pars and a spectacular birdie on the ninth hole to complete the front nine at 2-under 34.

The 25-year old continued his steady run on the tenth and eleventh, where he had pars.

Sandhu then changed his gears and first struck two consecutive birdies followed by a par on the 14th and again smashed three birdies on the 15th, 16th and 17th to reach 7-under and on top of the leaderboard.

Md Zamal Hossain Mollah has now gone bogey-free for the last 51 holes in the tournament as he dropped his only bogey of the week on the third hole in round one. On Thursday, Mollah sank three birdies on the front nine, including a 25-feet conversion from the edge on the sixth. The 37-year-old, who has one top-10 this year, then had a quiet spell of pars from the ninth to the 18th as he missed a few short birdie putts.

The defending champion Karandeep Kochhar was at solo seventh with three days total of eight-under 208.
