The nightmare week for the Indian golfers at the PGA and European Tours ended with some devastating results.
Anirban Lahiri, Arjun Atwal on PGA Tour, and Shubhankar Sharma and Gaganjeet Bhullar on European Tour faced tough times at international tour’s this week as all four failed to make the cut.
The top-ranked Indian golfer in the world, Anirban Lahiri, shot back-to-back even pars in the first two rounds, but it wasn't enough to earn him a spot for the weekend action at John Deere Classic.
On the other hand, Arjun Atwal, who is the only Indian winner on the PGA Tour, posted a 2-under 69 in the second round, but his even-par 71 on day one destroyed his chance to qualify for the weekend game at the TPC Deere Run golf course, Heather Knoll, Silvis.
Shubhankar Sharma, who is a regular on European Tour, made an early exit from the Scottish Open event.
In the first round, the 24-year-old Shubhankar carded 1-under 70 and earned a decent place at the points table, but on day two, he made two birdies against four bogeys and one double-bogey to finish his round at 4-over 75, and with an overall score of 4-over 145, he missed the cut.
The other Indian at the Scottish Open, Gaganjeet Bhullar, struggled on the first-round itself, in which he posted 3-over, and with an even worse second round of 5-over 76, he also made an exit from the star-studded European Tour event.Posted on: 2021 Jul 10 Sat
