Disappointing start for Indians at the British Masters

Indian golfers failed to make an impression and had a poor start to their British Masters campaign.

All four Indian golfers managed to card over par scores that restrict them outside top-70 in the European tour’s event on Wednesday.

Shubhankar Sharma carded one-73, was the best-placed Indian at Tied-70, while Ajeetesh Sandhu, who got into the field at the last moment, shot two-over 74 to lie T-94 at the €1,850,000 prize money event.

The veteran SSP Chawrasia (75) was T-115, and Gaganjeet Bhullar (77) was T-140 after the first round at the Belfry, Sutton Coldfield, England.

Matthias Schwab of Austria continued his excellent form on the 2021 Race to Dubai as he smashed seven birdies with a lone bogey to card a six-under 66 at the Belfry to grab the solo lead.
