BMW Championship: Dustin Johnson captures third victory of the season

Capture American Johnson recovered from letting slip his three-shot overnight lead to card a five-under-par 67 and finish on 23 under. Casey, who also went round in 67, was three shots back, with American Roberto Castro third on 17 under. Defending champion and world number one Jason Day withdrew after eight holes with a lower back injury. Johnson is ranked No. 1 going into the Tour Championship. If he wins the Tour Championship, he also earns $10 million for winning the FedEx Cup. Johnson has now won three times in a season for the first time in his career, and he has been the best golfer in the world for most (if not all) of 2016. "I think I played really solid," Johnson told NBC after beating Casey by three at the BMW Championship at Crooked Stick. "Drove it nicely, wedged it good. Couple of bad misses, but other than that I played really solid all week. I have a lot of confidence in every part of my game. ... I put in a new putter, and it really worked this week." Now Johnson will try and reproduce something else only Woods has done: Win the Tour Championship as the No. 1 player in the FedEx Cup points race going into the final event.
