Indian golfer Anirban Lahiri is all set to make a positive mark in this week’s World Wide Technology Championship at the El Camaleon Golf Club, Mexico.
The 2020 Tokyo Olympics participant Anirban will start his World Wide Championship campaign tomorrow with an aim to regain form and improve his position on the PGA Tour.
Lahiri, who plays most of his game at the PGA Tour, which is one of the world's most prestigious professional golf tours, had made twelve cuts during his 22 appearances on the PGA Tour last season. He had three top-10 finishes, with a tied-3rd finish at the Barbasol Championship marked as his best performance in the 2020-21 season.
After somewhat mixed results, the 18-time professional event champion is hoping to end his winless streak when he tees off at the challenging El Camaleon Golf Club on Thursday.
His last worldwide title was at home in the Hero Indian Open in 2015. The Bengalurian’s last two wins came in three weeks in 2015, when he won the Malaysia Open and the Hero Indian Open.
Anirban will play his first two rounds alongside 6-time PGA Tour champion Bill Haas and the veteran Nick Watney.
The tournament will feature some of the top international stars such as Justin Thomas, Brooks Koepka, Tony Finau, Rickie Fowler, Abraham Ancer, Patrick Reed, to name a few.
The defending champion Viktor Hovland will start as a favourite to win the star-studded $7,200,000 prize money event.Posted on: 2021 Nov 3 Wed
