Anirban Lahiri carded a superb 5-under 67 in the second round of the Barbasol Championship to climb up the leaderboard on Friday.
Lahiri, who started his campaign with an impressive 4-under, fired an even better 5-under on the second day to claim a tied-10th position at the midway of the PGA Tour event.
The highest-ranked Indian golfer in OWGR, Lahiri, made six birdies against one bogey to capture much-needed confidence ahead of the weekend action at the Keene Trace Golf Club, Nicholasville, KY, United States.
J.T Poston shot a flawless 66 to grab a one-stroke lead heading into the third round of the Barbasol Championship.
Ryan Armour and Joseph Bramlett were a stroke back, after a matching round of 67.
The other Indian playing in the field, Arjun Atwal, pulled out from the event during the second round. He was two-over-thru fifteen holes when he called it a day. In his 242 tournament appearances, this is his fifth mid-tournament withdrawal and second in the span of two months.
The first round joint-leader Will Grimmer shot a disastrous 4-over 74 to slip from overnight crown position to tied-40th spot.
On the other hand, Brian Stuard, who shared the 1st position after the opening day 6-under, only managed to score 1-under 69 at the halfway stage of the $3,500,000 prize money event.
Defending Champion Jim Herman was at the tied-31st position after two days total of 7-under 137.Posted on: 2021 Jul 17 Sat
